My family is from Serradifalco, Sicily and this Mediterranean island has great flavors that not many have tried or understand that it is a bit different from mainland Italy's flavors, and I'm so excited to introduce you to them! So today I want to share my personal recipe for a great Sicilian seasoning that you can use to brighten up your pasta sauces and any Italian recipes you love. Many friends have requested this recipe (some have even said it helps them feel better whenever they're sick!) and now you too can enjoy some unique Sicilian flavors in your kitchen! 🍋
Sicilian Pasta Seasoning
-1 cup organic Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup dried organic granulated garlic
- 1/3 cup organic dried mint
-1/4 cup Sicilian sea salt (it really is amazing!)
- 1/3 cup dried Calabrian chili flakes
- 1 tablespoon granulated lemon peel
Mix all well with a wooden spoon and transfer to a jar (I like to repurpose parmesan cheese containers from the store). Use a generous spoonful of the seasoning per jar of pasta sauce, or a spoonful in a dish of olive oil for bread dipping, or you can simply shake on top of your own plate of pasta. This also goes well on eggs, in meatball mixes, use for a pasta dish with this seasoning and olive oil for a quick dinner, and in soups.
Buon Appetito 🍝
Hint: A jar of this with a sweet little ribbon tied around it, makes a fabulous gift!
