For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
-Matthew 9:21-22-
I want to draw your attention to a part of this verse today that is not usually talked about in this beloved story. This topic is the importance of self talk and this sick woman with the issue of blood "said within herself" that "I shall be whole." That powerful phrase carried her on faith's wings to her Savior's feet and there it was that she found healing.
If she had said within herself, "I shall never be whole. I'll never get well and no one can help me." Do you think she would have reached out to touch Jesus' hem? Absolutely not!
That's the power of talking to yourself with faith. It will always take you towards your Savior and never away from Him. There you receive the help and healing you're looking for. It will always take you towards God's light that will shine on the right path for you, just like it did for this dear woman of faith.
Lastly, I want to point out that even though she said "I shall be whole" within herself, Jesus used her very words when healing her. He told her, "Daughter, be of good comfort. Thy faith hath made thee whole." Only God can answer our hearts that way and how special that is!
I wrote this song to encourage our hearts to speak faith. Please share this post with anyone that needs hope and healing. May you too be made whole in Jesus. 🙏
