2 Timothy 1:7 on the Harp - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear

 Today I want to share one of my favorite verses on the topic of fear with you.

Let me ask you a question...

Have you ever received the spirit of power, the spirit of love, and the spirit of a sound mind from the Lord?

Interesting thought. Let's consider this concept in light of the doctrine of salvation, as stated in John 3:16. 

 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

In order for us to have God's gift of salvation, we have to receive it in prayer, right? Whenever you see in the Scriptures that God is extending something to us, we now have an action that is required of us - receive it or reject it. 

So back to our first verse then, we see that God is extending to us the spirit of power, the spirit of love, and the spirit of a sound mind. I ask you again, have you received them or are you just staring at them in God's hands but not using them for yourself? They are His gifts to us as His children. If God doesn't want us to be afraid, He doesn't just leave a void in us. He wants it filled with something good and so much better. So today I encourage you to pray and thank God for these 3 amazing spiritual gifts and take unto yourself the gifts of the spirit of power, the spirit of love, and the spirit of a sound mind to replace all the fears that the devil and all the evil in this world throws at us.
